This antique hutch belonged to my great grandparents and is now in my aunt and uncle's house. It was too country and out dated for the rest of my aunt's decor in her house, and especially for the room we were about to make over. So I removed the top half and fixed up the bottom. Little did I know, it was not pure oak like my grandfather profoundly claimed it was, but it was more wood veneer than actual oak. I could not physically remove all of the veneer, but I think it actually added a really nice unique texture in addition to the paint treatment I used. My aunt chose the simple brushed nickel hardware.
